Why we’re building this
A community center is much more than a building. It’s where people meet, learn a language, share a meal or fix something together. Yet online, it’s often hard to find out what’s going on.
We’re building a platform that makes this easier: for the people who keep the center running, and for the residents who want to know what’s on.
The name
Kaya is a word for a dwelling, a home. Our founder grew up in Zambia, where he came to know the word. Plex stands for building or complex.
Together they make Kayaplex: a home for the people of the neighborhood, a place where the community comes together.
