Why your community center deserves its own website
Many community centers communicate mostly through social media. That makes sense: a Facebook page is quick to create and costs nothing. But it means missing part of the neighborhood.
Not everyone is on social media
The people a community center matters most to, such as older residents, newcomers and people without a smartphone, often aren’t on Facebook or Instagram. And those who are only see your posts when the algorithm lets them.
Your own website can be found by everyone: through Google, a link in the newsletter or via the municipality.
You stay in control
On your own website, you decide what’s on it and how it looks. No ads next to your activities, and no platform suddenly changing the rules.
One place where everything is right
The biggest advantage: when your website, calendar and activity overview are connected, you only have to update information once. Has the language café moved to a different time? Then it’s correct everywhere straight away.
A good website isn’t an extra. It’s the front door of your center.
Social media is still useful for reaching people. But let it point to your own site, where all the information is complete and up to date.
